if people need preview, then it should be done on the fly
without the need to press some button (maybe a checkbox?).
At least I as a user would be happy to see a real implementation
of this wysiwyg philosophy. in a dialogbox I don't see
anything, and therefore I don't know what I will get till
I hit some button. But if you could integrate this style-dialogue
into the formatting-tool-bar along with APPLY and CHANCEL
buttons, then maybe people would actually start using styles,
as they would suddenly loose some of their mystery. Then you
wouldn't need no PREVIEW button, as you simply need to apply
the changes from the toolbar on-the-fly and undo them once
CHANCEL was requested. also some checkbox could differentiate
between changes meant for the current paragraph(s), and changes
for the whole document...

Just my humble opinion as a user.
