Opening compiled version of Abi

How do I open Abi once I have compiled it? I ./autogen.sh, ./configure,
make, and make install and get a good compile. Then I go into
...abi/src/wp/main/unix and ./Abiword_d or _s and all I get is the
message "Abiword could not find any local font files in its font
path..." The instructions say it should run directly.
