Thanks, Martin & Godfrey. I'm concerned whether the --nodeps option will allow abiword to work correctly, so I'm not going to go that way.
I've got RH 7.1, but I've kept it updated. I think I've got everything that RHN provides, which should get me mighty close to 7.2, but I don't know if the up2date software overlooks some packages. I tried further searching using "gal rpm" on the RH search Web site and found http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/GByName.html . This contains gal-{,devel-}0.14-{ximian.2,1}. There's also a gal-static-0.14-1 but I think I'll skip that one. This narrows gal down to ximian or not-ximian, but the not-ximian doesn't specify Redhat. They're labeld "PLDtest." Is there any reason I should favor one over the other? I don't have packages labeled ximian installed at this time. On that rpmfind.net site, both RH 7.1 and RH 7.2 versions existed. I downloaded all the Redhat 7.2 ximian versions even though I'm not technically using 7.2. Should I download the 7.1 versions instead? Searching similarly for libgal, I found http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/conectiva/7.0/LByName.html . This contained several possible files: one libgal file, three libgal5 files, and three libgal7 files. That one libgal file was libgal-i18n-0.7-2cl. It seems to be related to the libgal7 files. Just to help drive me nuts, the libgal5 files have a 19 Jun 2001 build date and provide libgal.so.4, and the libgal7 files have a 28 Apr 2001 build date and provide libgal.so.61. So, libgal5 was built later than libgal7 yet has the earlier libgal.so file, as expected. Yet, neither of these have libgal.so.11. So, I went to the rpmfind.net search page and asked for "libgal.so.11". It came up with 19 rpm files, mostly ximian. Among those was a Redhat 7.1 & a Redhat 7.2 file. Keeping consistent with what I've already downloaded, I took the 7.2 ximian file. Trying to install the libgal11 revealed that I needed libgnomeprint15, so I have more downloading to do. This will get me started. --Larry Martin Sevior wrote: > HI Larry, > Grab a gal rpm from RH 7.2.
