Hi All, I've looked through the FAQ, Documentation and scoured the web, so forgive me if this has been covered before (the list archives seem to be non-searchable).
My setup: Linux box is the server - running gdm accepting broadcast connections from remote X Servers. This box is also running a font server. The font server has been configured so that it's looking at the AbiSuite fonts directory, and after I'd pointed xfs at it, the number of fonts available went up, so I assume they are available :) The remote box's X Server is configured to look for fonts on the Linux server, and everything works ok - gimp sees all the fonts, as does xfontsel et al. AbiWord, when it starts up spits out the following error, without showing a window: Xlib: extension "XFree86-Misc" missing on display "morpheus.davenet:0.0". X Error of failed request: 86 Major opcode of failed request: 51 (X_SetFontPath) Serial number of failed request: 9 Current serial number in output stream: 11 X font path modifications failed. Please make sure you have type1 support enabled in your X server. The same binary works if it's running on a local display - that's just a complete nightmare as the display is in a way away (upstairs in the server room). Unfortunately, I havent got a spare Linux machine to try running AbiWord on a different machine's display, so I don't know whether that works or not. I'd like to add that all other programs appear to work on the other display - I use it for all user tasks as well as server administration. I hope you can throw some light on this... Cheers, Dave. ----------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word unsubscribe in the message body.
