Hello, you can do it just editing the file normal.awt Open the windows explorer and find the folder AbiSuite, then look for the folder "templates". Double click the file "normal.awt" and do all the changes you want to and save the file( not "save as"), close it. This file is a template that Abiword uses to create a document. I do this and it works. By the way I'm running the latest version 0.9.6.-1 and I had the same problem that Darren. I only fixed it editing normal.awt
