Same here. I posted about this problem when 9.5 came out, and someone else posted about it when 9.6 came out. There is an easy way to fix the file associations (I think)--someone posted it when I asked, and I passed it on when someone asked about 9.6. If you look through the archive for January you can find it (looking for my last name might be easiest--I can't recall the name of the thread). I used GoBack to solve my problem with 9.5, but I also tried out the advice that was posted and it worked. If I were a brandnew user of AbiWord and had the file associations switched, I'd uninstall the program in disgust. And then I guess I wouldn't know *what* to do. I've warned people to whom I've recently recommended the program to uncheck the box when installing.
