abiword Image magick plugin

I downloaded "abiword Image magick plugin". What does this plugin? Allows 
to insert pictures in AW?  Can someone explain the use of this file? Can I 
install it with v0.992?
If the question seems so stupid, sorry, but I really need to ask?
