Hi Thomas,Hello!
The gtk-only build will just have the old style printer dialog.
The gnome-build has a very fancy printer dialog. Thanks to the tip we just
got from John Mellor it looks like we go even better for the GNOME FE and
use gtklp. So for gnome you can do: print, print preview (which is REALLY
cool), PDF output and print to FAX.The GTK-only types don't seem to want all the extra goodness you get from
the Gnome platfrom.
It's good to know advantages in using the Gnome version of Abiword. Thanks for the examples above.
It's possible I, & maybe other 'GTK-only types', too, are such because we've had problems that were too much in our trying to get libgal.so dependencies solved & install Abiword's Gnome version. So, settling for the best I could manage, I ~ & maybe other 'G .... types', installed and run the GTK version of Abiword. It may seem 'GTK-only types' "don't ... want all the extra goodness you get from the Gnome platfrom (sic)" but 'it ain't necessarily so.' It wasn't with me. I simply found hours of fruitless efforts with libgal.so 12/17/ ?? too much to add to even though I did solve a few problems. The lot I could not ~ & maybe others couldn't, either.
Best wishes for the Year of the Horse (now seven days begun!)
Godfrey
P.S. Of course, libgal.so problems don't defeat the team producing Abiword
can they defeat others.
