Hello, Please excuse my bad english :-)
I just have a look in Abiword, version 0.99.2, and did not find if it is possible not to insert directly a picture in the document, but to insert only a field contenaing the link/path to that picture, and to switch the display of that field to see eihter the link or the picture itself. I work for a French publisher, and it is something we use very much in our work under Microsoft Word. David
