To build (some) plugins, or even to get them to work, you need to have
various extra libraries installed, such as libgdict, zipios++, and so on.

There's a plugin source tar-ball that you can (or should be able to)
download from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/abiword

You'll need the abiword source as well, preferably of the same version
number.

Shouldn't be too many problems getting things working on Linux.
