There is an outstanding bug requesting PDF support, it is one of the top voted requests for enhancements.
if you want to make PDF on windows follow the instructions here they could probably be improved, i do not do much technical writing. http://matrix.netsoc.tcd.ie/~horkana/dev/abi/#pdf i have not tried it yet but using pdflatex in combination with Abiword LaTeX export should produce good results. I really want to get PDF with hyperlinks, which get lost if you convert to postscript (ps) before converting to PDF. I have tested it yet, but i really hope it works. Using the Gnome version of Abiword for Linux sounds like the easiest way as has already been mentioned Gnome print has built in support for printing to a File as PDF.
