In addition to FJF's suggestions, you could also try out the ImageMagick
or GdkPixbuf plugin. The gimp plugin doesn't give us access the the
Gimp's filters, it gives you the ability to spawn the gimp on a given
image inside your document, edit it, and then have that image magically
replace the one you started out with.
