and here is a record of the command: grep Xi GNU*
GNUmakefile:GTK_LIBS = -L/usr/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lgtk -lgdk -rdynamic -lgmodule -lglib -ldl -lXi -lXext -lX11 -lm

Install the XFree86-devel rpms. There has been some threads on the list regarding this.
