Hi Karen,
Access has no way of knowing if you want a decimal point or not. If you use
the below procedure there are a few catches to it.
1. You may or may not use the decimal when entering a number.
2. If you do not enter a decimal it will take you entry and divide it by 100
and format the results as currency.
3. if the desired results of the number you enter is to be $88.80 and you do
not use the decimal then you must enter 8880, where if you used the decimal
you could enter 88.8 and get the desired results.
4. If your desired results are $88.00 you must enter 8800 or with the
decimal 88.

Private Sub Text0_AfterUpdate()

    If InStr(Text0, ".") = 0 Then
        Me.Text0 = Format(Me.Text0 / 100, "currency")
    Else
        Me.Text0 = Format(Me.Text0, "currency")
    End If

End Sub

use decimal points

Assuming you are entering data directly into a table, set the data type of
the field to currency. Of course, if you enter 8888, you'll get $8,888.00,
not $88.88. If you are using a form for entry you can set the format
property of the text box to currency.
