I did not realize that multiple users
would require making changes at the same time, so PowerPoint now becomes out of
the question. I would look to see what kind of software is out there that is
capable of this all ready.

add-on for the existing inventory system would seem to make the
most sense ... feature creep usually will dictate
that you end up
doing some double-entry whenever two separate
systems are created, no
matter how simple at the outset. This sounds like
a very useful tool
that would be asked to do more and more over time,
and I can't
envision that the client is the only company
needing to perform such
tasks (within their industry or similar).
For PowerPoint, how would sharing or file
check-in/check-out be
managed best? Even with a low volume of changes
and small number of
users, one must allow for multiple users
attempting to access (to read
or update) the presentation at the same time.
