I didn't go deeper yet but it works fine to me using 2000. I hope it will work on client side too.
Do you have any sample db using WIA controls or anything that is more flexible?

The Kodak OCX only works well in 97 I have a sample of the 97 version at

http://home.comcast.net/~carl.beck/Scanner97.zip

This was working but I can’t test it without 97 installed.

It uses the Kodak OCX controls and won’t run under 2000 or above.

Thanks for the tips Carl...I believed I found the solution using the Kodak and Rich Text Format OCX. But I will consider your WIA in any case.

Cheers,

George

Hey George,

In Access 2000 and later the WIA controls are what you need. They do all of that with out trouble. I had another db for the same thing in Access 97, however it won’t convert to 2000 or newer.

Thanks Brij, I apologize if I didn't explain properly #4, what I mean on "view the result on screen" is, view it on Microsoft Editor after the scan so the user has the option to resize it or optimize it.

#5 is a straight forward coding and the one you suggested is my current way also.

You are right I need some dll or ocx to do this, I believe Kodak Image Scan Control something...

Thanks again.

George

use this mdb

 Move to  frmAddPhoto

your objective s Number 4 and 5 will be solved

4) View the result on screen then

5) Save the file on local drive and full path on the database.

for automatically scan photo through scanner u required some

DLL or OCX Contorls which give control and functionality of scanning

images.

Best Luck

brij here.

My objective is to incorporate a scan feature in my apps so basically the procedure will be:

1) The user will put the picture on the scanner then

2) Click the Scan button in my apps then

3) The system will automatically scan the picture and converted as an Image.jpg or gif then

4) View the result on screen then

5) Save the file on local drive and full path on the database.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

George
