My guess is you are making a reference to a product you have on your
machine that is not on the other machine. I have had this problem when
upgrading machines or working on two different machines and at different
levels of Office. For instance even though I have Excel clicked, it may not
be the same version of Excel from machine to machine.

Perhaps transmit it to them a different way, to identify or rule out
downloading from the web as the culprit for it not running properly?

There could be minute differences between the two systems, or
something in their data, that's causing the lockup.
