Skunk,

Take a look at Access's 'memo' datatype.  It allows up to 64K of input.  It
is editable, but it is not sortable.

The other fields could be 'text', which allows up to 255 characters, is
editable, and is sortable.

Most data base programs allow limited size fields
I want a data base program that will create fields and look like this

Verse     ... 25 characters wide
Person    ... 25 characters wide
Place     ... 25 characters wide
Category  ... 25 characters wide
Notes ....... unlimited number of characters

Notes can be a paragraph or 100 pages
I can sort by any of the fields
I can search any field
I can edit the Notes any time
