When you go to a replicated database system, the Autonumber keys become
random numbers rather than sequential, and with the number of digits used,
it would be highly unlikely to have duplicate keys in the different replica
databases. That being said, I have looked at, but have not yet used
replicated databases, and would still prefer to use other means to pull in
data to a master database. Anybody else out there with more experience
using replication?!

Subject: [AccessDevelopers] Need help on replicating mdb

Hi all, and Happy New Year.

My project is running super, thanks in part to you guys, but now I have a
dilemma. The project is designed to handle multiple sailing rallies, as
long as they run one at a time. All of the tables and auto-number ID's work
great, until I have to send the program out for two concurrent rallies.

I had thought about replicating the database and keeping the original at the
home office, but I don't know how that would work if both teams have to add
records. Won't they overlap on the table ID's and cause problems in the
related tables when we merge them back together?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Gratefully,  Jeanie
