Colleagues Apologises in advance, but I would like to delay the rollout a few days more.
I am happy to announce that a substantial amount of effort has been has been made recently in the development of improvements to the Access Grid software. Unfortunately, a small amount of additional effort is required to finalise the release of an improved version of vic for Windows. It is expect that this development work will be completed in the next few days. Therefore, in the interest of releasing a significantly improved "windows bundle" release, the rollout will be postponed. But, on a positive side of things, I am very excited to announce a new release of VPCScreen for windows which has been greatly improved. These improvement include: · Ability to transmit from different screens (and not just the primary screen); and · Ability to transmit at higher frame rates (up to 30fps); For those who would like to try out this new version, the package can be found at http://www.mcs.anl.gov/~turam/20101210-1907/VPCScreenProducerService.agpkg3. Feel free to give it a go and let us know if you have any problems with it. It is expected that the new bundle release will be available to download and install this Friday (as some testing is also required) and will be announced on this mailing list as soon as it becomes available. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Tom Uram for his work on improving the VPCScreen Package, as well as Doug Kosovic for his on going development work with Vic. Also like to thank Nathan, Todd and Llyod with their help with testing recent improvements. Thank you for you patience and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. Once again, apologises for any inconveniences caused. Many regards, Jason. From: Jason Bell Sent: Friday, 3 December 2010 09:52 AM To: 'accessgri...@lists.aarnet.edu.au' Subject: Australasian - Pacific region AGTK 3.2 rollout - postponed Colleagues I would like to inform you that we have postponed the "Installation and Testing session" until the 13th of December (Note the change in times for this session as well). This delay will hopefully enable the inclusion of a new version of "vic" and "VPCSCreen" into the Windows bundle. Work is currently being carried out on these items and this delay will hopefully ensure these applications are ready in time for when the upgrade rollout occurs. Apologies for any inconveniences caused, but it is hoped that this delay will enable a better version of 3.2 to be available. Those considering upgrading soon, I suggest holding off for the new version of the bundle to be released. The updated details for session is now as follows: Monday (13th of December) - Installation and Testing session This session will be dedicated to testing those who have upgraded and also guiding those who wish to upgrade during the session. This session provides an opportunity to test out AGTK 3.2, ensure you can receive HD video streams, transmit using higher resolution video streams and ensure shared applications are working as expected. With New Zealand tentatively planned to do a national roll out to AGTK 3.2 during this time, it is thought this would provide a good opportunity for those in the Australasian - Pacific region to get involved and to get updated as well! The details for each of the sessions: Time: Bangkok 9:30am Beijing 10:30am Manila 10.30am Singapore 10.30am Taipei 10.30am Perth 10.30am Seoul 11.30am Tokyo 11.30am Brisbane 12.30pm Adelaide 13.00pm Canberra 1.30pm Hobart 1.30pm Melbourne 1.30pm Sydney 1.30pm Auckland 3.30pm Venue: APAG Lobby (https://vv3.vislab.uq.edu.au:8000/Venues/default) If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reply back to this mailing list.
