Thanks for the tip off - we found the same problem but felt we had to  
find a fix rather than shut it down at short notice.

We fixed the problem by installing a new CA cert from AG3.1 (whose CA  
cert expires in 2012). I copied 45cc9e80.0 and  
45cc9e80.signing_policy from /etc/AccessGrid3/Config/CAcerts of a  
newly installed 3.1 system into /etc/AccessGrid/Config/CAcerts/ of  
the AG2 server. I also had to copy them into ~/.AccessGrid/Config/ 
trustedCACerts directory of the user which the server runs as. I then  
ran certmgr.py to remove the old CA cert.
