Everyone is invited to attend the next Research Computing seminar from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Title: "Evolutionary Nanophotonics" Presented by: Stefan Preble, Professor, MicroSystems Engineering Venue: Rochester Institute of Technology https://vv3.mcs.anl.gov:8000/Venues/8cdd226521d429b68e7e8c0158a6a663 List-Post: accessgrid-tech@lists.sourceforge.net Date: Dec 13, 4:00 PM EST It isn't always straightforward how to design nanophotonic devices. In order to obtain better performance we have recently turned to nature for our inspiration. For example, nature has evolved many of the very first nanophotonic devices, such as the beautiful colors of some butterfly wings. In this talk we will present evolutionary designed devices that significantly outperform human designs.
