I too have recently purchased a new Gateway with on-board Sigmatel audio, and am having the same problems. With the lack of PCI slots in new machines, I was forced to buy a USB soundcard from Creative, which has already gone bad and we are waiting for a replacement. I have gotten the on-board to play with rat, but it crashes at random intervals, which seem to somewhat correspond to the number of participants, and peeking audio levels. If anyone has any input at all, I would also love to know.

Many of these come with the Sigmatel High Definition Audio built in, but it doesn't appear to be compatible with rat....I've tried it and rat dies frequently (sometimes every minute). Is this an incompatibility that is being addressed in a future release of rat? I know I've seen other threads regarding sound boards, but if this is what is being shipped by default, I'm wondering if there is a fix somewhere.... ============================================ Cindy Sievers Los Alamos National Laboratory siev...@lanl.gov Group CCS-1 MS B287 tel:505.665.6602 Advanced Computing fax:505.665.4939 Los Alamos, NM 87544 ============================================
