As for the feedback on the card... I was using mono rca/phono cables between my RAV900 and the soundcard. When I switched to a stereo cable, using only the left channel, things were back to normal. No crosstalk and great gain levels. I mistakenly thought a mono cable would be fine to jack into a computer sound card, but it causes problems. DON'T DO THAT! :) Cheers.
