My apologies, Derek is right, please don't blame the AGVCR installer, it works great! And furthermore, both Derek and AGVCR are awesome!
The problem I had, as Tom pointed out, was related to this bug (and not to the GTK as I had thought): http://bugzilla.mcs.anl.gov/accessgrid/show_bug.cgi?id=1571 Tom wrote, "The problem is, I believe, the existence of some file or directory that begins with "Program" in the C:\ directory,so you could alternatively just remove that file/dir." I had specified a directory in the C:\ directory for AGVCR to write the recorded files to, this in turn, triggered the above mentioned AGtk bug.....once I removed this directory, everything worked fine. whew.... Many thanks to Tom and Derek!
