Hear, hear! :) Tom is speaking from hard-earned experience.
There's an AGDP doc that may be of interest to those who haven't used the jabber chat tool before: http://www.accessgrid.org/agdp/howto/use-text-channel.html It's recommended that people use a jabber chat room with the name corresponding to the name of the virtual venue (ie, if you're in the Axon virtual venue, use the Axon jabber chat room). And it never hurts to drop into the jabber meadow -- people often go there if they're confused about what to do. - Jennifer Tom Coffin wrote: > > hi folks > > Just a reminder... when participating in AccessGrid > meetings people should consider a couple of things > > 1) the background chat - the Jabber is "key" for troubleshooting > and just basically coordinating node op activities before > and during a session - plus it can be fun! > > 2) testing - It's very important to test your connection > into the AG session prior to the meeting starting - I have > found that it takes at least 15 minutes for all the sites > to get settled with the correct audio levels etc... and > if there are network issues it can sometimes takes longer. > > > ___________________________________________________________ > Tom Coffin .......................... tcof...@ncsa.uiuc.edu > > NCSA-ACCESS cel: 703-477-5948 > 901 North Stuart Street, #800 tel: 703-248-0105 > Arlington, Virginia 22203 fax: 703-248-0100 > > _________________________ http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/~tcoffin
