Patrick, I've loaded AGtk 2.3 many times and I have not had any problems. Here's a quick step by step. I'me sure you've done this but at least you can see if you missed something.
This is important, uninstall any previous version of all three packages! Download from AG website. ActiveSta1e Python 2.3 (ActivePython-2.3.2-232-win32-ix86.msi) wxPython 2.5 (wxPythonWIN32-2.5.1.5-Py23.exe) Access Grid Toolkit 2.3 (AGTk-2.3-Py-2.3.exe) Install each in the order above. Make sure that the compile python box is checked when you install wxPython. Reboot. Run AG venue client and request a certificate. If you have a certificate on another machine, export the certificate as a single file from the certificate manager, copy that file to you laptop and import it. It was that simple for me.
