Dear AG-Tech

I thought I would provide an update on the Access Grid website and the changes
that will be occurring in the near future.

As you might are aware, ANL recently withdrew support for the "open source"
Access Grid project. From this, the International community, as well as
leveraging open services such as source forge, combined to provide resources to
continue the Access Grid Services. One of these services included the Access
Grid Web Site (See http://www.accessgrid.org/). WestGrid (Canada) provided
this service on a temporary basis, until a new permanent location/website could
be arranged. The server infrastructure currently hosting the website is
reaching end of life and WestGrid can no longer provide this service and host
this website.

Therefore, with thanks to QCIF (Queensland Cyber Infrastructure Foundation -
http://www.qcif.edu.au/) and the NECTaR Research Cloud
(http://nectar.org.au/research-cloud) program, with the assistance of others
(Doug Kosovic, Chris Willing, Todd Zimmerman and possibly others), we are
currently in the process of setting up a new Drupal install on a new Virtual
Machine to host a new AG website.

What I/we have decided to do is to create a brand new website using the latest
version of Drupal (currently the AG website runs an extremely old version of
Drupal 4.7.1). We will copy across content as we see fit. This will mean
everyone will have to get new accounts etc - but this will flush out anything
that might be old and outdate.

In regards to the node listing, we are also hoping to save the listings as a
"static HTML page" and have it available on the new site. Then, we will
develop a new structure for new "Node listing" and get users to publish new
node listings. We are also hoping to store all of the contact as static pages,
so we can restore any old content if we ever need to.

If anyone would like to assist with any administrative tasks, please contact us.

I hope some of you find this update useful.

Thanks for your time,
Jason.
