If you're able to reconfigure or get someone else to fix the routers for
multicast that's your best option. But that really depends on your network and
if the separate subnets are allowed to talk to each other all. If you can't get
multicast working you'll have to use a bridge of some kind.
You could set up your own AG bridge somewhere on your network and get all your
client machines to use that. This is preferable to using an external bridge as
it will not use bandwidth otherwise used for internet traffic. Of course it
does require a dedicated machine and time to set it up, but it's probably the
best solution if you can't get multicast. You should look into the
documentation, I found this which may help you set up a local unicast bridge...
http://www.accessgrid.org/agdp/guide/unicast-bridge/1.11/book.pdf hopefully
that will be helpful. Here's another link for QuickBridge
http://www.accessgrid.org/agdp/guide/network-bridging/1.0/html/x128.html
Unfortunately both bits of documentation are a bit old, so I don't know how
relevant they are.
Using an external bridge is something you could do, but it will end up using
lots of internet bandwidth sending data out and then back in. It is useful if
you're in a conference with someone outside your network so you should try to
get that working.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Andrew
