David, Why did you find you needed a checkable state?  Why couldn't the
AT figure this out from the role?

I added the parent Open A11y group to the cc since this discussion will
likely be helpful to the ATK/AT-SPI group, e.g. the note about HASPOPUP
missing in ATK/AT-SPI.
