There used to be a software called something like LAN Monitor. There are
actually a lot of tools like that. Try a google search and you will find
plenty.

Subject: [AI] MB MEASUREMENT

Hi Members,
Is there any way to know, or, software for that matter which could keep
indicating the number of bytes being downloaded while working on the
net? In the dial up connection, or any connection set up manually, this
indeed can be known by going into the connection group box, where it
keeps reporting about the number of bytes being sent and received, but
in the LAN connection, it reports about the packets beings sent and
received and not bytes. Would also appreciate somebody could clarify as
to what is exactly meant by packets, this is because in each cession,
I've noticed that the number of packets and the number of MBs vary and
not consistent. That simply means, sometimes, the packets would be 43000
and the corresponding MBs would be as low as 8 MB, and on the other
hand, sometimes, the number of packets are 38000, and the corresponding
number of MBs go as high as 45 MB.
