Dear friends,
As you all are aware that the Persons with Disabilities (Equal
Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 was
passed a decade ago. The Government of India is planning to amend the ACT
and has invited suggesstions in this regard from the stakeholders. The last
day for submitting them is 31st July, 2006.
Iin ligt of our experiences of the past decade, it is essential to take
afresh look at the Act and send a concerted response to the Government.
Keeping this in view, the National Association for the Blind, (NAB), India
has convened a meeting of activists in disability sector on Saturday, the
15th July, 2006 at 2.30 p.m. I cordially invite you for the same.
