I do not know whether there is a solution for this problem, but I had this 
problem too. I used to get an Adobe update prompt practically every time I 
restarted my machine. The most recent one was for installing Chinese fonts, 
which I never used and did not need in the first place. I finally removed 
the entire Adobe software from my machine. I now use Jamal's Textpal to read 
PDF files.
