Dear Friends, Thanks to all for your suggestions, but unfortunately the problem remains.
I have only 1 user account on the computer and so, am pretty sure that I did not log in another account. The System Restore also did not help. Another friend had suggested creating another user account and transferring the earlier user profile to the new user profile. When I tried to do that, I got the following message. Cannot set security definitions for destination profile. User Profile System Registry is corrupted. It seems that I will have to reinstall Windows.
