Folks:

Though by and large I don't have any problems in using my JAWS 5.0, I
face certain minor annoyances. For instance, when I work on MS Word, I
often find JAWS reading a sentence in a para as 'blank'. I will have to
go to that sentence press space and back space (in order to bring back
the sentence to its original position) and then find it reading the
sentence perfectly.

This is of course with an individual sentence, there are times when JAWS
reads the entire Word document as 'Blank'. I would then go to format
background settings, change the background colour to white (even though
I'm not sure if the background colour of the document in question is
white or not) and then find JAWS reading the document properly.
Sometimes, I will have to perform the task several times in order to
make it work. Very rarely, even this procedure won't work. I will then
change the document from 'Web layout view' to 'print layout' or vice
versa if it doesn't work in the other mode.

Although I largely get away with all this tricks, it is a big problem
when I am working against shorter deadlines and at times, I completely
lose my cool with my system.

1 Can you tell me why such problems occur?
2 Are there ways of permanently fixing it?

Hi,

The behaviour you describe in your message occurs when you computer or
your
Internet service provider cashes the previously visited pages for faster
delivery. You need to disable caching from Internet Explorer. To do
this,
after starting Internet Explorer do the following.

1. Go to the tools menu and then to Internet options.

2. Tab to the button labelled settings.

3. Choose the option that refreshes the cash at every visit to the page.

4. Click on the okay button as many number of times as required to
return to
the browser.

Subject: [AI] Question about internet surfing

Dear friends,
Is it possible that a webpage which i regularly visit or have visited in
past, internet explorer would show me the old webpage even if it has
been
updated? The internet connection was working then and also my internet
explorer was not set on work offline.

I use Windows xp with SP2 and Internet explorer 6. I have also marked
this
particular website in question for offline browsing in the Add to
favourites
menu. So this website is normally available for offline browsing even if
internet connection is not working.

Also do anybody had any such experiences where their computer was
showing
old webpage while at the same time other computer was showing the
updated
page.

thanks in advance,
