Hi
There are a couple of ways of performing this task.
I'll illustrate one of them:
Go to start menu
accessories
system tools
Here you will find both scan disk and Disk Defragment

Regarding the through option, you will find it one of the option when you 
start this application. You can also check automatically fix errors option 
as well.
