Screen Reader and Magnifier Users Adviced Not Installing Internet Explorer 7

By Peter Verhoeven

People using screen magnifiers or screen readers like Lunar, LunarPlus, Magic,
Zoomtext, Hal, Jaws, Supernova and Window-Eyes are adviced not to install
Internet explorer 7, because of serious incompatibility issues.

Microsoft has released the web browser Internet Explorer 7 and rumour says it
will be included in the automatic Windows update in november.

If you use a screen magnifier or screen reader to access your Windows, you are
adviced by magnifiers.org to not installing Internet Explorer 7. Most screen
magnifiers and screen readers do not work properly, including stopping of
speech support, with Internet explorer 7.

Users of screen magnifiers and screen readers are adviced to contact the dealer
of the product for more information. Most companies announced a free update
from the latest version. If you use an older version of a screen reader or
magnifier, do not install Internet Explorer 7 at all.

Another advice from magnifiers.org is, not to buy an upgrade for only getting
access to Internet Explorer 7. In some month Windows Vista will be released
and this will again need a new upgrade of you screen magnifier and screen
reader software.

Also be careful with the automatic Windows update. Be sure that installation of
Internet Explorer 7 is optional and that is does not automatically installs.
