Two reasons. Firstly, you will never have exact 256MB because we tend to
count in mega bytes where as the RAM manufacturers tend to calculate in
mega bits. Secondly. Your video driver will reserve a certain amount of
RAM for itself.

since recently, I am experiencing a problem I.E., when I check the
status of physical memory of my system, it shows that "physical memory
available 244,500 MB". in fact, I am using the 256 MB of RAM. why it is
happening. please guide me in this regard to get back to 256 MB memory.
