Hello Anjali,

You can safely remove your pen drive using the Eject menu from the
right-click options in windows explorer. Otherwise remove it when the pc is
turned off. I do it usually.

I have also removed my pen drive without mistakenly using the system tray
and nothing wrong has happened. However, the user manual recommends against
it in windows xp.
