You are right. But, let me hasten to caution that this is largely true
with visual (electronic) media, but the print is still very conventional
in its approach. Except for a few cheap publications (cheap in its
attitude and approach), the print media has always been taking a stand
on important issues and is reflecting a broad array of opinions.

The fact that media is also accountable today is highlighted by the
establishment of "Readers Editor" section in The Hindu, where if you
feel a fact is wrongly mentioned or an issue hasn't been objectively
dealt with, you can drop in a complaint and the readers editor team
would take it to the journalist concerned in The Hindu and ask him/her
to clarify. On top of it, that clarification is also published.

popularity as well. What revenue is expected from programs on astrology,

domestic violence, news of criminal activities? Ajthak's Vishesh and
Star
News's Sansanni give out information about murder, kidnapping, rogue
things, etc. Media news is basically is create sensation and compete
for
giving the bad/wrong news first.
