Thanks for your mail. Congrats on both your presentation and your good luck.
From our side things are moving steadily. A Forum has been put in place in
Bangalore with corporates, NGOs and institutions to take the disability work
forward. IIM-B is working on a study mapping positions for PWDs in different
industry sectors, The forum chairman, who is also chair of the CII CSR
Networking Forum is very committed and he is spreading awareness among industry
on this issue through case studies and interactions.
In Delhi, we are partnering with an NGO - Pallavanjali, which is setting up a
training facility and getting our members to work with them on what kind of
training needs to be imparted. They are also doing a mapping of CII for
employment and an access audit, too.
Chennai - CII is partnering with Ability Foundation for a job fair for PWDs
later this month.
In Kolkatta, as you may be knowing, Mr. Ambrish Dasgupta is chaiman of the
forum. Indrani has left CII and we have a new person - Bharati Shah working on
this. With Mr. Dasgupta in the saddle, we expect things to move faster and the
forum to be in place very soon.

Subject: My Presentation at Infocom 2006
Dear All,
I was invited to speak on impact of IT on disabled at Infocom 2006 organize by
nasscom and business world group. This conference was in augerated by President
of India and is the largest IT conference in the nation. My presentation
initiated with technical failure of lap top connecting with LCD but I managed
to run power point slide on Organizer’s laptop parallelly. My laptop was
connected with conference audio equipment so I was able to demonstrate
capabilities of screen reader. Presentation lasted for fifteen minutes and
everyone seems to like the same.
I am also grateful to God for gracing me with second life. I was traveling on
the same train with my wife which had a tragic accident of bridge collapsing on
the coach ahead of us and made the breaking news in all leading TV channels on
December 2, 2006.
I continue to seek your support, guidance and cooperation in the future.
