I don't think reinstalling Kurzweil will solve the problem. As far as my experience goes, it is a permanent problem between kurzweil and fine reader. Kurzweil does not open any file scanned from fine reader and saved in MS word format. So, saving it in text format and opening it with Kurzweil appears to be the only solution. In order to insure accurate ordering of the pages of the books vis-a-vis that of the scanned file, one can do some experiments with the format settings option in the save file dialogue box in fine reader, before pressing the save button.
