I don't remember the exact steps since I used that version long back. But You could get to the preference by pressing control+P and try to get to the output. Once you are there, then there should be a button called "configure output or something like that. There are several things and I can't remember all of them, but there is a check box related to volume and If my memory is correct, the check box is called Ault mode or something. If the box is checked by default, then just uncheck it, or if it is already unchecked, then check it. I know that this is very very vague, but just let me know if you are at least able to get closer to solving your issue. If not, then I'll send you privately the 5.4 version. In fact if you have K1000 CD, it's extras folder contains the software.
