Raj,

I think when you use this option, the computer will detect the lossed chains
in the disk. Lossed chains could be the temporary data which may fail to get
deleted. So how does it happen?
Well, when your computer turns off unexpectedly in the various situations
like hang-up, power-cut etc, the temporary data which the computer is
already processing, may remain in the disk sectors. Yes sometimes it is also
possible for some Windows applications to get damaged if the computer
improperly shuts down. But an interesting thing is that when you use disk
checking utility, it makes an attempt to "repair" the files. Now does
frequent use of disk checking utility cause any problems to the system?
You know actually, when you perform disk checking operations, you will not
face any harm. The computer will generate some files ending with an
extension called '.chk'. But I do not no what are those files used for. I
request my dear folks to tell us if they know why a disk checking utility
has to generate '.chk' files? Can we use it for recovery operations? if so,
how?

Regards,

Syed Imran
