Hai Harish: Can you give more details on the headphone you had mentioned in your mail --the maker, cost and if it's available in India.
Also, is resonance such a damaging thing even if the headphone has volume control? Though I have been using headphones for three years, almost continuously, I have taken one small measure of precaution --though I don't know to date if that can be a precaution at all. I cover my ears completely with cotton, so that the sound doesn't hit the drums straight away. There are basically 3 issues here. firstly is the amplitude that is the volume level that can be damaging. The second issue is that of frequency. There is more energy carried in higher frequencies. The third issue is that of ressonnence. The energy is fully focused on this frequency. Each speaker or headphone may have different resonnence frequency. That is chiefly depended on the construction of the device, material used and the final assembly of the device. Sound is also a form of energy and when one listens on a headphone the there is practically no distance gap between the source of energyand the ear drum which is the target. Nature has not factored for it in its origin design <smile>.
