Kolkata, May 9: Tagore's birthday came as a precious gift for the visually- challenged people of the city. The complete works of Tagore has been transcripted in Braille by Media Lab Asia and Webel Mediatronics Limited, a subsidiary of the West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation Ltd (WBEIDC). State IT minister Debesh Das today handed over the complete works of Rabindranath Tagore in Braille to the State Central Library apart from presenting 19 volumes of Galpoguchho to 38 blind schools and other organisations for the visually handicapped. The minister said, "The Braille version of Tagore's works is just a fragment of the line-up of projects we have. More such creative initiatives are on cards." He added that the government would soon set up a consortium and excellence centre and budgetary allocations have already been made for the purpose. However, he failed to specify the amount that would be required to set up the centre. "I also had a discussion with the Spastic Society to chalk out ways to help the inmates out," he said.
