If you are using K1000, it has a speech engine called "voiceware" and it is a bit closer to human voice. But unfortunately it doesn't get installed automatically with K1000 since the speech engine is sent out only to their customers. It works only with K1000 version 8 and later. So If you want to try it out, I can make an effort to upload it on the sendspace and forward you the link.
