Central Recruitment & Promotion Department, State Bank of India, Corporate Centre, Mumbai invites applications from Indian citizens for appointment in the Clerical Cadre posts in State Bank of India. All posts are computer related and knowledge of computers is essential. Last date for receipt of application : 23rd May 2007 Last date for receipt of application from farflung areas : 31st May 2007 Date of written examination : 19th August 2007 Total number of vacancies are likely to be 3500. Merit list will be drawn up State-wise and candidates will be posted in the State from which he/she is appearing for the written test and will not be entitled for inter/intra-state transfer in the first 10 years of service. In addition, 100 more vacancies are earmarked for Sikkim, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Ladakh & Leh and Lakshadweep for which separate merit list will be drawn up. Candidates may apply separately for the above State/UTs with necessary enclosures / demand drafts. Reservations for SC/ST/OBC/PWD available as per Govt. guidelines as applicable to State/UTs. The number of vacancies as mentioned above are provisional and may vary according to the actual requirements of the Bank. 1. Scale of Pay : 4410-215/3-5055-335/3-6060-470/4-7940-500/3-9440-560/4-11680-970/ 1-12650-560/1-13210 2. Emoluments : Selected candidates will be paid emoluments as applicable to Award Staff under various Rules/Awards/Settlement in force in Bank from time to time. At present, the total starting emoluments of a Clerical Cadre employee payable at Metro like Mumbai are around Rs. 7000/- per month for Graduates inclusive of D.A. and other allowances at the current rate. Allowances may vary depending upon the place of posting. The new recruits will function as 'Customer Relations Associates' managing front desks at branches. They may be given higher financial power for which applicable allowances will be paid in addition to salary & allowances. Opportunities for promotion will be available within 2/3 years of confirmation based on performance, written test and interview. 3. Educational Qualification (as on 01.04.2007) a. A degree in any discipline from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government, with minimum 50% marks. Besides, the candidates employment in a higher grade or cadre in Group 'C'/ 'D' under the Central Government. However, such candidates will not be eligible for the benefits of reservation for Ex-Servicemen in Central Government jobs. 3) The Territorial Army Personnel will however be treated as Ex-Servicemen w.e.f. 15.11.1986. 4) An Ex-Serviceman who has once joined a Government job on the civil side after availing of the benefits given to him as an Ex-Serviceman for his re-employment, his Ex-Serviceman status for the purpose of re-employment in Government ceases. 8. The blind candidates/low vision candidates and candidates who are locomotor impaired in both hands and both arms and candidates whose writing speed is affected by cerebral palsy can use own scribe at their cost during the written examination. In all such cases where a scribe is used, the following rules will apply: i) The candidate will have to arrange his/her own scribe at his/her own cost. ii) The academic qualification of the scribe should be one grade lower than the stipulated eligibility criteria. iii) The scribe can be from any academic discipline.The scribe should possess 50% or less marks. iv) Both the candidate as well as the scribe will have to give a suitable undertaking, and confirm that the scribe fulfils all the stipulated eligibility criteria for a scribe as mentioned above. Further, in case it later transpires that he/she did not fulfill any of the laid-down criteria or suppressed material facts, the candidature of the applicant will stand cancelled, irrespective of the result of the written test. v) Such candidates who use a scribe shall be eligible for extra time of 20 minutes for every hour of the examination. 9. Probation period : Minimum period of 6 months. Before the probation period comes to an end, the newly recruited employees will be subjected to a written test, testing their knowledge of the products of the Bank and its subsidiaries, customer/marketing orientation etc. Those who pass the test at the cut off marks fixed by the Bank will be confirmed in service. The probation, in respect of those who fail to pass the test, shall be extended by another three months before the expiry of which they will again be subjected to a similar test and failure to clear the 2nd test will result in termination of their services. 10. Selection Procedure : should have obtained minimum 60% marks in the matriculation (Class X) and intermediate (10+2) examinations, as detailed hereunder : All eligible candidates should apply in the prescribed Application form given in this advertisement to reach the given address on or before the last date for receipt of applications. Knowledge of other Indian language will be an added qualification. 4. Age : a) Minimum Age : 20 years ; Maximum Age : 26 years (as on 01.04.2007.) Candidates born between 01.04.81 & 31.03.1987 are only eligible to apply. b) The upper age limit will be relaxed as under : i) For SC/ST, Orthopaedically handicapped, Ex-servicemen/Disabled Ex-servicemen/OBC etc. as per guidelines laid down by Government of India. ii) For persons who have ordinarily been domicited in Kashmir Division of J & K State during 01.01.80 to 31.12.89, by 5 years. iii) For widows, divorced women & women judicially separated from their husbands & who are not remarried, by 9 years, subject to maximum age limit of 35 years for General and 40 years for SC/ST Candidates. Candidates seeking age relaxation are required to submit copies of necessary certificate(s) alongwith the application. 5. Nationality / Citizenship : A candidate must be either i) a Citizen of India or ii) a subject of Nepal or iii) a subject of Bhutan or iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination/ interview conducted by the Bank but on final selection, the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India. 6. Reservation for Persons with Disability (PWD) : Vacancies are reserved for Disabled (Physically Challenged) Persons under Section 33 of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 (1 of 1996) as per government guidelines.
