Hello Accessindians! After going through almost all the messages concerning the controversy of regarding a HR agency posting a notice about some lecturer vacancies in a south Delhi college, I wish to place my views, without however any intention to add fuel to already raging fire:
1. I see it as an opportunity for anyone desiring to pursue teaching career if the news is disseminated in any manner and so notice by a private recruitment firm is as welcome as an open advertisement. 2. As per procedure to be followed by a government agency for recruitment in an open and transparent manner, the fact of private placements can not be denied even by premier institutions like Reserve Bank of India etc. and so, keeping the question of legal validity of such a manner of recruitment only through private placement sometimes by government entities, open to be decided by appropriate authorities, the fact of desirability of such an information being disseminated whenever such a course is resorted to must be acknowledged. And, at any count, the concerned person running a private HR agency must not be taken to task for gaining out of such a process, as it is their professional endeavors for which they are paid and disability does not give us gratuitous passport to services and things for which the general consideration is monetary.. 3. Having said this much, the proper course in my opinion is to advertise posts in an open manner and solicit the services of private recruitment agencies whenever thought fit in addition to an open advertisement. I do not know whether such is the norm in government recruitment, but if it is, it is the question of fact whether it is followed by the concerned or not. 4. In summery, legal question is: whether government entities like the colleges of DU may solely resort to private placement in filling some posts, or they may employ it as an additional means to open advertisements. The factual question is: whether the norm was adhered to.. Merely flouting the concerned recruitment agency for giving the notice in a forum which reaches to many intellectually sophisticated adults, is in my view effectively shutting out whatever little channels of information are available to the visually impaired. However, I would request Anubhuti to reconsider her decision of withdrawing from such a vibrant forum. The question, as I have mentioned above, consists of legal and factual point. They may be sorted out by proper course. I think the respected members were trying to raise these very issues and were also concerned about the absence of an open advertisement for filling the post of lecturer in a government college, as is the usual course which may reach the maximum numbers and which also ensures transparency. However, in my personal opinion, if an open advertisement is there in addition to HR firms, it is the fair norm, but at the same time the fact of solely private placements by government agencies also, can not be ignored.
