Yes, Gautambhai has done a great job for many regional languages. I am of the opinion that he should be given Padma Shree. He really deserves it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "mukesh jain" <[email protected]> To: "AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues concerningthe disabled." <[email protected]>

Subject: Re: [AI] creating audio file from hindi unicode text

hello sir,
it was a great pleasure to know about your noble contribution to read
and write the regional languages accessible for the persons with
blindness. So your noble work surely deserves lots of appreciation and
we all thank for your precious time involved for the same.

As you mentioned that my required task can be performed with your
developed tool with certain limitations in terms of need, speed and
adjustment, that shouldn’t be a major concern as I would only like to
make my hindi text in audio so that I can give these audio files to
one of my friend who does not have any knowledge of computer. She
would like to listen to some of these hindi text on normal mp3 player
so long as she understands the matter pronounced by tts.

Secondly, my hindi text is written in Microsoft word 2003. do I have
to still convert this in text format?

You have mentioned that tool called drishtibani can make the audio of
hindi text so I tried to type drishtibani in google and again tried to
know more about it but couldn’t be of much success there. So could you
please provide me any resources to know more about this tool?

Lekha tts installed on my machine seems not to be Sapi compatible
because in balabolka while choosing the synthesizer on sapi5 tab to
save it as audio, there are only few Microsoft voices shown. I have
downloaded lekha tts from freedom scientific page and in jaws it is
appearing under vocaliser expressive category.
So your further Response and guidance is awaited. Once again thanks
for your unique contributions in the field of making the regional
languages more accessible on computer.

hello,
it’s very nice to know that even we can create audio files in
gujarathi. As suggested, I have tried searching for this tool
drishtivachak on google but couldn’t get much success in terms of
search results. So could you please direct me to any site where I can
get more information about this tool?

As I have mentioned that I would like to convert hindi text in to
audio using lekha tts still listening the gujarathi text with espeak
would be of great experience. So do you have any file which I can
listen to using drishtivachak with espeak. Even small file containing
few lines would be suffice.
Looking forward to hear further. Thanks much for the reply.

Hello,
Thanks for the reply. Currently I do not have the lexcum device. So
would like to know that if I download this software and use it without
the actual hardware, can I perform my desired task?
Thanks,

Hi
Select the appropriate speech engine and do the audio conversion. I
guess,

it should work, otherwise, do revert on the list.
Similarly, for balabolka you need to select SAPI TTS like Espeak, it
should work. I don't think, the default speech engine of Espeak on
NVDA
gets registered as Sapi synthesizer. You need to install Espeak
separately

for it appear in the Sapi synthesizer list.

Harish.

Subject: [AI] creating audio file from hindi unicode text

Hello,
I would like to know that is there any tool available which can
convert
hindi text typed in Unicode for instance, in mangal font to audio
format.

I have lekha tts installed on my machine with jaws16. it does read the
hindi text fine but would like to make audio file. I do know that
there
are several such utilities around like kurzweil, openbook, balabolka
and
lot more for English but not come across for hindi hence, raised this
query.
Your views are highly obliged.
Thanks,
